A student riding a motorcycle was killed after being hit by a stone-laden truck in Rajshahi. The accident occurred on Road No. 1 of Padma Residential in the district on Thursday evening.
The deceased student has been identified as Mojahidul Islam Avro (22). He is the son of Md. Kalam from Shiroil Colony area of Rajshahi Nagar. Mojahidul Islam was a student of Rajshahi Polytechnic Institute, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chandrima Police Station in the city, Matiar Rahman.
OC Matiar said that a stone-laden truck hit Mojahidul’s motorcycle from behind. Mojahidul fell under the truck and died on the spot.
Locals chased the truck. The driver abandoned the truck near the flyover in Meherchandi area and fled, said OC Matiar. He said that the body has been recovered. Now, legal action will be taken as per the wishes of the family.
The police officer said that the body of the deceased student will be handed over to the family after the legal process is completed.
